It can be challenging to select a nootropic that is the best one for you. Over the last few years, the market has burst into life, with new products being made available all the time – each with a unique set of ingredients and each promising a unique set of benefits.
These products are made all over the world now – every corner of the planet is experimenting and researching the best natural ingredients available.
Ultimately, this is great for us as consumers in the long run. We are getting better-quality nootropics, based on more thorough research and at a more competitive price.
In the short term, though, we need to work out which one to spend our money on.
In an effort to help you with that decision, we are going to look at Brainzyme Focus Pro. It is produced by a company called Better Nutritional Science, who claim to be specialists in brain and immune system function.
This puts them in an excellent position to develop a nootropic that has a positive impact on our cognitive performance.
All of their products are made within the UK, using only natural ingredients and, according to their website, they are committed to evidence-based science.
In this review, we are going to take an in-depth look at the benefits that you might be able to expect if you were to take Brainzyme Focus Pro, and the ingredients that deliver them.
We trialed Brainzyme Focus Pro ourselves. We like to see first hand how effective it is, so that we can provide an honest, authentic review that delves way deeper than the marketing. Is it what it’s cracked up to be? Let’s find out!
Brainzyme Focus Pro Benefits
On the Brainzyme Focus Pro website (Edit: updated June 2024), the benefits that you can expect are grouped into four main categories: focus, mood, memory, and energy:
Focus
Brainzyme claims that your focus will start to improve after just 60 minutes of taking the supplement, allowing you to concentrate better.
No matter what you do in your professional or personal life, and no matter how good you are at what you do, having better focus can make a consistent difference to your productivity, overall performance, and end result.
Memory
With better focus and concentration comes a better memory. Brainzyme have included ingredients that help your cognitive ability to retain and recall information.
This is what makes quality nootropics so useful to students, CEOs, or in fact any role that requires a lot of information to be recalled at pace, such as nurses on busy wards.
Energy
Brainzyme believes your mental energy will continue for 6-8 hours after taking this nootropic, which is game-changing during the bulk of your day, and allows you to wind down for the evening for a good and healthy night’s sleep (an important time for our brains to store information we’ve learned during the day).
Mood
With increased focus, memory and energy comes motivation and an uplift in your mood. It feels good to achieve your targets, doesn’t it? It’s a confidence booster when you’re successful at what you do, and when you’re being productive enough to make the most of your day.
Used consistently (three weeks plus, as advised by Brainzyme), they claim you’ll ‘Think Clearer, Get More Done‘ – and you’ll unlock your real potential and reap all its benefits.
Brainzyme Focus Pro Ingredients
Enhanced Matcha Theanine (EMT™) Blend
The most prominent ingredient in Brainzyme Focus Pro is its patented Enhanced Matcha Theanine blend.
Matcha is a ground powder made from green tea leaves that are usually grown in East Asia. It has been seen as an ingredient that has many health benefits, ranging from encouraging weight loss, to helping to prevent cancer. It also contains a small amount of caffeine as well, which gives you energy.
This is blended with L-Theanine, EGCG and Polyphenols. L-Theanine is an amino acid which is again commonly found in green and black tea, and is thought to play a role in reducing stress, anxiety and insomnia.
EGCG is a plant compound that is thought to have great health benefits, such as aiding weight loss, preventing brain disease and reducing inflammation.
Polyphenols are an antioxidant also found in plants, and again help to combat heart disease and inflammation, while also helping to reduce oxidative stress.
All blended together, this creates a powerful combination of health benefits, making it a star player Brainzyme Focus Pro.
Guarana Seed
The next ingredient on the list was named after a tribe in the Amazon that used to brew the seeds of the Guarana plant into a drink. These days, the main use for these seeds is in medicine.
There are many different potential benefits – from treating low blood pressure and preventing malaria, to enhancing athletic performance and sexual desire.
Guarana seeds contain caffeine, so when you take it your central nervous system will be stimulated. Your body and mind will kick into life, and your thinking speed will be increased.
At least, that is the theory. More research is required to ascertain exactly the impact Guarana seeds can have, but it is generally considered positive for performance.
Choline
Choline is absolutely essential when it comes to a fully functioning nervous system. It is produced in the liver, but can also be found in protein-rich foods such as nuts, eggs and meat.
It is one of the most important substances in our body, helping with muscle control, helping to prevent birth defects and, most specifically in the nootropics sphere, aiding brain function.
It is the brain function that particularly appeals to the creators of Brainzyme Focus Pro. It is thought that Choline will aid memory and mental function, which is why it is included here. Again more independent research would be needed, but the effects so far are looking very positive.
Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo Biloba is a large tree with fan-shaped leaves, and it is thought to be one of the oldest surviving species of tree in the world, dating back over 200 million years. It was originally grown in East Asia, but now can be found all over Europe and America.
The leaves are thought to have antioxidant tendencies and are particularly useful when it comes to slowing down brain aging. It has been used for problems with people’s vision as well as for anxiety and memory problems.
While it won’t prevent damage to the brain, it can certainly help to slow down issues, even potentially Alzheimer’s disease. It is thought that it can help bring more oxygen to the brain, which helps us to concentrate, even when we are tired.
L-Tyrosine
Probably the most common ingredient in nootropics now, L-Tyrosine. This amino acid is a protein builder, and therefore often found in protein-rich foods like fish, beans and oats.
The main perceived benefit of L-Tyrosine is that it helps our brain to transmit messages – it’s understood that the higher the level of L-Tyrosine in our brains, the quicker these messages can be transmitted, and the quicker our brains work.
It is thought that our performance when under pressure is improved when we take L-Tyrosine supplements, as is our memory. These are the benefits that are expected with Brainzyme Focus Pro.
Essential Vitamins & Minerals
There is also a big group of ingredients that make up the rest of the formula for Brainzyme Focus Pro, but in much smaller quantities.
Included in this are minerals like magnesium, zinc and iron, which you will find in most supplements, and vitamins C, B1, B3, B5, B6, B9, and D3.
To add to this robust formula, you’ll also find Vitamin B12, Piperine, Bromelain, Maca Root, and Iodine. All these work individually and synergistically when it comes to the health and performance of our brains and bodies, from protecting against cognitive decline to stabilizing our moods.
There is evidence to support the inclusion of these ingredients, but as the world of nootropics is a relatively new one, a lot more research is required to establish the full impact of these ingredients on our brains.
Brainzyme have worked hard to provide an ingredient profile that’s suitable for most – it is vegan friendly, gluten- and allergen-free, free from GMO and cruelty testing, and does not include gelatin, sugar, or soy.
How To Take Brainzyme Focus Pro
On the website, it is recommended that you take two Brainzyme Focus Pro capsules an hour after you have eaten. You should drink half a glass of water before you take them, and another half glass of water immediately afterwards.
As you get an 8-hour energy boost, it is obviously advisable to do this first thing, so that you can feel the benefits throughout the day without impacting your sleep health.
If you would like a stronger impact, it is recommended that you take your dose at least 30 minutes before food, and increase the dosage. The maximum they recommend is six capsules a day for people over 16; four for pregnant and breastfeeding women; and two for children over 10 (with the capsule contents sprinkled over food).
This was quite surprising, as often the latter two groups of people are not encouraged to take nootropics without first seeking medical advice. I would strongly recommend you ALWAYS speak with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement regime, specifically for children, pregnant women, or if you have any medical condition.
Using Brainzym Focus Pro – The Results
After all the research, it was time to put it to the test. Before I go on to detail my experiences with Brainzyme Focus Pro, it will probably be helpful to explain a little bit about me and my life, and how a decent nootropic could help me.
I am a freelance writer – I have almost daily deadlines for various publications, which usually means working late nights and quite stressful periods.
I juggle this with a young family – both my wife and I work full time and we have two boys under 5. It can be tough at times, so more focus to help improve my productivity would be very well received.
To test Brainzyme Focus Pro, I started with the recommended dose, which is what I’d advise to anyone starting nootropics for the first time.
I have tried quite a few nootropics over the years, and what tends to happen is that you don’t initially feel any real impact, with any noticeable changes taking a week or so.
So I was delighted to be able to feel that promised surge of energy within an hour of taking my first dose of Brainzyme Focus Pro.
It wasn’t overwhelming, or too much. I simply felt more ‘in the zone’ – I was getting work done, and I didn’t have that productivity-sapping lethargy that I can often have midway through the morning. I was powering on through, and even getting ahead of schedule.
This was not a placebo effect, either. As I mentioned a moment ago, I’m used to not feeling any difference with nootropics to start with.
The improvement in my focus, drive and memory continued for the rest of the month. The biggest improvement I felt was my energy levels – I felt as though this was very much in the driver’s seat of my improved focus and productivity, and it truly did make quite a difference to my professional life, and therefore my personal life, too.
The Pros & Cons
In order to give a more balanced analysis of Brainzyme Focus Pro, I have incorporated not just my own experiences, but those of others that we came across during the research.
Pros
Energy: The extra little boost that you get makes you feel driven, focused, and generally more motivated. My productivity soared, and I had more time (and energy) to spend my personal time more wisely.
Reduced stress: This may just be a by-product of getting more done, but many people report that they feel more relaxed when they take Brainzyme Focus Pro. There are plenty of ingredients that aim to fight stress that could back up this claim, and I myself felt calmer-minded alongside my energy boost.
I had everything in hand, and it was a refreshing feeling.
Boost the immune system: Many of the ingredients are also antioxidants, or have other immune-boosting qualities. With young kids, this is a huge plus for me!
Cons
Contains caffeine: A lot of people find that caffeine doesn’t agree with them – if you’re sensitive to it, you may have to avoid it.
You’ll need more water: This is really the only side effect reported in suitable users, so have a water bottle ready. If you have a weak bladder, this may be a problem for you.
Verdict
Brainzyme Focus Pro is unlike a lot of the other nootropics that I have tried – largely because of the inclusion of caffeine.
While this might put people off trying it, I found that the extra little boost to my energy levels enhanced every other benefit that I experienced from taking Brainzyme Focus Pro. I was able to get so much more work done with that little boost, that I didn’t feel the need to up my dose, which kept it very affordable as well as effective.
As a parent to young children who often struggles to get a full night’s sleep, this was genuinely life-changing for me. I was just a little better in almost every aspect of my life, and I would therefore wholeheartedly recommend Brainzyme Focus Pro to anyone who wants that extra little boost in their lives.
