‘Success, Not Stress’ initiative proves successful at Workplace Wellbeing Awards
HSCNI and Soma Analytics’ Success, Not Stress Initiative wins the Workplace Wellbeing Innovation Award at Inspire Workplaces Inaugural Workplace Awards in June 2018.
On the 21st of June this year, Inspire Workplaces hosted a night in Belfast to celebrate workplaces across Northern Ireland who are leading the way in employee wellbeing.
Business Services Organisation (BSO) within HSCNI entered into the category for the Workplace Wellbeing Innovation Award after celebrating one year working with Soma Analytics. In August 2017, BSO launched the Success, Not Stress Initiative which saw employees gain a year subscription to Soma’s Kelaa Mental Resilience smartphone application. They were the first public sector body in NI and NHS body in the UK to implement such an innovative wellbeing strategy.
Comparing organisational statistics from August to Feb 2016/17 to the same period in 2017/18 after making the Kelaa app available found a 5,000 hour decrease in mental health absence. In addition to this, measurements on the app have found a 5.1% increase in staff resilience and 4.4% increase in wellbeing.
In the Workplace Wellbeing Innovation category where they took out the top prize, BSO was up against Belfast City Council and NI Water.
“We’re very proud of this award and the results that this past year has produced for our employees wellbeing, I am aware of some staff gaining some real benefits. We’d like to thank Soma Analytics and are looking forward to ramping up the Success, Not Stress project for the second year.” — Patrick Hanna, Human Resources Manager, BSO.
